WAKA

Nau mai rā ki te pou Waka!

Tēnā rā tātou e te whānau, our waka pou focuses on supporting kaupapa waka through rangahau, resources, ako and advocacy in the spaces we occupy. Waka are bastions of culture for Māori, inextricably linked to whakapapa and identity - being the vessels our tipuna used to navigate Te Moananui a Kiwa and arrive in Aotearoa, New Zealand. In a modern context expressions of waka and waka kaupapa can be seen all around the motu. Our team are committed to growing the puna rangahau connected to waka - you can find some of our existing research in the rangahau section of this website.

Further resources will be added to this page in due course however for information on waka hourua specific kaupapa visit Te Hau Kōmaru.
